BCT is proud to announce that Executive Artistic Director Burgess Clark will be embarking upon a 3-month Playwright-in-Residence program at the prestigious William Inge Center for the Arts in Independence, Kansas.
The William Inge Center for the Arts is named for the Pulitzer Prize and Academy Award-winning playwright William Inge, and is designed to nurture, celebrate and promote the achievements of playwrights, playwriting and the American theatre, in order to educate, entertain and culturally enrich the local and national community. The William Inge House
Mr. Clark will live at the historic William Inge home for 3 months and will focus on writing new scripts for readings at the William Inge Theatre. As a playwright-in-residence, Mr. Clark will also teach playwriting at Independence Community College (ICC) and Cherryvale High School. “It is truly an honor to have the Inge Center recognize Boston Children’s Theatre’s commitment to developing and producing new works for children,” said Clark. “To work and live in the home of one of American’s premier playwrights is a tremendous opportunity and I look forward to creating and writing my next project for BCT students and audiences while staying at this renowned artistic institution.” Mr. Clark will begin his residency in September of 2013.
