Exploration of Musical Theatre (Ages 9-14) / Intermediate Musical Theatre (Ages 9-14)

Classes are offered in both Boston and Beverly.

Exploration of Musical Theatre is designed for the beginner student who is interested in learning about musical theatre.  Introductory skills will be taught and developed in singing as part of an ensemble, understanding basic movement, and character development using the Broadway canon.  The class will conclude with a presentation of material learned.

Intermediate Musical Theatre is designed for the intermediate student to continue honing their skills in musical theatre.    Material will increase in difficulty and build upon introductory skills.  The class will conclude with a presentation of material learned.

BEVERLY

Exploration of Musical Theatre

Saturdays 12:00pm-2:00pm, 8 weeks

SATURDAY SESSION – 4/1, 4/8, 4/29, 5/6, 5/13, 5/20, 6/3, 6/10 (*No Classes on 4/15, 4/22, and 5/27)

Intermediate Musical Theatre

Tuesdays 7:00pm-8:30pm, 8 weeks

TUESDAY SESSION – 4/4, 4/11, 4/25, 5/2, 5/9, 5/16, 5/23, 5/30 (*No Class on 4/18)

Fee $295

BOSTON BCT classes will take place at 41 Berkeley St. on the fourth floor of the Benjamin Franklin Institute.

BEVERLY BCT classes will take place at the Cummings Center or the Larcom Theatre.

Meet the Instructors

Stephanie

CHRISTOPHER CAVALLO a native of Connecticut, has been a theatre educator for the past ten years in addition to being an actor, singer, director, and choreographer.  Christopher successfully designed and implemented a comprehensive musical theatre curriculum and program (K-12) for a performing arts school in Connecticut in which the culminating objective was to prepare high school students for collegiate and conservatory training in musical theatre.  Christopher has a passion to teach young people in the performing arts and to watch them grow.  He sets high expectations for himself as well as his students, allowing them to reach their full potential.  Many of his students have gone on to study musical theatre in higher education, as well as to work with the Goodspeed Opera House, iTheatrics, The Hartt School, and the Broadway Artists Alliance.  Some past directing and choreography credits include:  Little Women the musicalThe Drowsy ChaperoneThe 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling BeeAvenue QOnce Upon A MattressSeussicalThe Little Mermaid, and The Wiz.

Chris Cho (Music Director)
Chris is proud to be working with Boston Children’s Theatre again after music directing Thoroughly Modern Millie Jr. for Studio 3 in the summer. He has also been working with many original theatre productions at Berklee College of Music, The Theater Offensive, Concord Youth Theatre and so on. He’s currently working as a Music Score Editor at GP Productions in Boston, music director, orchestrator and game music composer in Boston area.
