Meet our Teaching Artists!
CenterStage Discovery and CenterStage Youth will be taught by BCT actress Katie Clarke (The Velveteen Rabbit.) Katie Clarke is a recent graduate of Endicott College where she earned her BA in English with a concentration in Theatre. In addition to her instructor role, she also works as the Assistant to the Executive Director of BCT. Katie also teaches music and creative movement classes for KidPowerment in the Greater Boston area. Before moving to the area, Katie taught classes at Children’s Theatre Workshop in Oak Bluffs, MA for 6 years. On stage credits include “Annie” in Annie Get Your Gun, “Nana” in The Velveteen Rabbit, “Susan” in [title of show], “Catherine” in Pippin!, “Hermia” in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, “Helen Keller” in The Miracle Worker” and “Little Red” in Into the Woods.
Mikayla is thrilled to be returning to BCT, this time as a teaching artist. Just as her mentors here inspired her years ago, Mikayla hopes to come full circle and inspire students to discover the magic of theatre and reap its great gifts: creativity, confidence, collaboration, compassion, and much more. Mikayla is a graduate of Emerson College where she received a degree in Theatre Education with a Concentration in Acting. When she’s not teaching, Mikayla galavants around Salem in Puritan garb, performing with the theatre company History Alive, Inc.
A versatile leader and multi-instrumentalist, Chris has music directed numerous shows and taught musical theatre classes around Boston area. He’s been working with Boston Children’s Theatre for almost 3 years, past credits include; Fancy Nancy, Charlie Brown Christmas, Legally Blonde, Into the Woods and more. Always in demand for his writing skills, Chris has arranged and orchestrated new shows such as The Light Rail (NYMF), Higher Higher (Emerson College), The Love Note (Off-broadway), Monsters (GP Productions). He’s also recently credited as a copyist of Huntington Theatre Company’s production of Merrily We Roll Along. He’s currently working as a production music writer for film, TV and commercial.
Rebecca graduated from the Stella Adler acting studio in NYC in the Summer of 2015 and I hold a BFA in Musical Theatre from Florida Southern College. She teaches children as young as 6 months old to 12 years old loves creating a safe and colorful class environment through theatre and movement. She thoroughly enjoys teaching within the arts as it brings together all of her passions to one place! Her motto is: “Love what you do and you’ll never work a day in your life!”
